At Leading Kids to Christ the King Ministry, we have a simple hope: to see children come to know Jesus Christ and grow in their Christian faith. My name is Claricia and after serving 21 honorable years in the US military I decided it was time for a change, so I retired and am now living temporarily in the Dominican Republic with my husband Pedro. Although I miss my home church (Riverview Baptist) in Northern VA, I am excited to say that I am serving as an official missionary under their leadership. I am very thankful for their continued encouragement, direction and guidance to fulfill my desire to serve the young and needy. But most importantly to serve God.
Starting this mission has been a blessing, but it is not easy. Sometimes the frustration sets in and I wonder if I helped enough. But I have come to understand that God is working behind the scenes no matter the situation and the size of the ministry. Pedro and I are excited and thrilled to have this mission put on our hearts and we hope to spread the Gospel in many hard to reach, underdeveloped and impoverished areas in the Dominican Republic. So far, we have served over 30 kids locally in the Santo Domingo area during Christmas, Valentine's Day, and with back-to-school supplies. We have also served over 100 kids in my husband's hometown of Los Guayuyos with school supplies, community service and Christmas charity.
Los Guayuyos is a loving community but it has many difficulties, and it is a very hard to reach area. Nevertheless, I enjoy being there with the kids and helping my husband as he teaches the word of God in Spanish. Each child we encounter becomes a part of us. This is why we will continue to focus on this area for now. Nevertheless, we are praying that we can serve other hard to reach areas in the future as the Lord permits. But for now, we are asking that you join us in prayer for this mission, that the Lord will guide us and protect us as we continue to be the hands and feet of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
